The Hands and Feet Project, founded in 2004 by Christian music group Audio Adrenaline, provides family-style, residential care and sustainable solutions that fight against Haiti’s orphan crisis. Hands and Feet Project work’s hand-in-hand with Haiti’s Child Social Services to provide holistic residential and community-based care for Haiti’s most vulnerable children. Additionally, Hands and Feet strives to keep families together by creating dignified, sustainable jobs and coming alongside mothers in crisis by providing daycare services. Currently, Hands and Feet Project is caring for 110 children in southern Haiti.
The Village Chapel has been a major partner with Hands and Feet Project, giving nearly $100,000 in support over multiple years, providing funds to purchase vehicles, build homes, deliver hurricane relief, develop emotional care initiatives and more. Moreover, TVC has been a faithful prayer partner with a great heart for volunteering locally and through short-term mission trips.
This year’s gifts from TVC are dedicated to childcare needs. Hands and Feet Project’s childcare program is primarily sustained by monthly child sponsorships, however, many of the children are under-sponsored or have no sponsors at all. This year, The Village Chapel is helping cover the shortfall in monthly childcare costs including: caregiver salaries, food, tuition and tutors, emotional care support, pastoral care, utilities and medical needs.
Week-long mission trips to Haiti for youth groups, families and individuals are available throughout the year. Local volunteers and participants are also needed for Run For Love, a celebrity 5K happening annually during the K-Love Fan Awards weekend. Youth groups are needed later this summer to participate and help launch the Water Carry Challenge, raising awareness and funds to meet the clean water needs in the Haitian villages and communities Hands and Feet serves.
Local volunteer opportunities include general office help and event coordination, while opportunities in Haiti include three-month internships and general short-term mission trips as mentioned above. For more information, visit handsandfeetproject.org.
