Table for Eight is back for another semester! These low-key quarterly dinner groups are a great way to get to know other TVCers with similar interests by facilitating connections within your church. We’re getting a jump on signups for our fall groups, promoting Table for Eight during June’s Burgers & Bibles, but you can also sign up at events.thevillagechapel.com or the Info Table before or after a Sunday service. Groups will meet for a meal once a month in September, October and November.
So just how does it work? Here’s the basic gist: different groups are created based on a common denominator – this time around we’ll group people based on the part of town where they live. As groups are formed, each will be assigned a “host,” either an individual or a couple for each group, and they’ll contact everyone to schedule that first meal together. From there, it should flow pretty easily, with the group making plans for the next dinner (or breakfast or lunch) at each meeting. By signing up, you are simply committing to gather for a meal with the same group of people once a month for three months. That’s it!
Even if you’re already in a Home Group or other mid-week study, Table for Eight provides a much more casual environment for getting connected. It’s a means for TVCers to find others with similar interests or who live in their neighborhood and get to know them better, leading to deeper, more meaningful relationships. Our hope is that the relationships formed around the dinner table would continue beyond those three months.
