One of our most popular annual gatherings returns in February, so rev up your Crock-Pots and pull out your best chili recipes! The 2018 Chili Cook-off & Potluck is scheduled for Friday night, February 23 at 6 pm, the Chapel at TVC Main. It’s a unique opportunity to hang out and have fun with your church family while enjoying some amazing homemade food.
Here’s how it works: All are welcome. Just bring some chili, bread or a dessert to share. And in the spirit of full disclosure, we need to tell you that all chili will be automatically entered into our chili cook-off contest. But don’t worry — judging will be for fun and bragging rights only. Besides, you have a little time to plan, so get creative.
Everyone in attendance gets a vote, so there will be plenty of willing tasters for your culinary creations. Traditional chili is great, but the crowd is also appreciative of turkey or chicken in white chili. If you’re a purist and prefer your chili without beans or you want to go meatless and appeal to the vegetarians in the congregation, that’s always popular too. Gluten-free is a great option as well.
There will also be a fun activity for school-aged children, and Nursery and Preschool childcare is provided by reservation at childcare.thevillagechapel.com.
If you plan to attend, sign up at events.thevillagechapel.com, bring your big ol’ pot of chili (or bread or dessert) and come ready to have fun. Water, paper goods and hot drinks will be provided by the church. It’s always a good time of gathering together with great food, and you won’t want to miss it!
