The Christian church does not exist merely for itself. We are here first and foremost to glorify God and then to become the arms of Jesus reaching out to a broken and hurting world. This outreach requires both words and deeds. The words of the Christian mission proclaim the good news of God’s grace offered through Jesus. The deeds involve reaching out in love to help the helpless, bring comfort to the grieving, justice to the oppressed and relief to the poor.
At TVC, we offer you easy ways to live that out, devoting the second Saturday of each month to serving local missions organizations. You’ll have the opportunity to choose from a variety of projects, based on your interests and abilities, serving until your project is complete (most are done before 1 pm).
Make plans to join us for our next Second Saturday on May 13. Sign up at the Info Table or missions.thevillagechapel.com, then we’ll all meet at 8:15 am on Saturday in the Living Room at TVC Main before departing to worksites around Nashville. This month’s featured projects include:
Barefoot Republic Camp – Up to 45 people are needed in Nashville to help with staining fences, building a horse paddock fence, setting up special activities and camp admin.
Project Connect Nashville – Up to 21 people are needed to help with gardening at Lexington Gardens Apartments and painting and installing kitchen cabinetry.
Faith Family Medical Clinic – Four people are needed to paint parking lot lines.
=There will be plenty of time to serve in the morning and still make it to the TVC Picnic that afternoon. Questions? Email [email protected].
